I had a wonderful weekend!! On Sunday morning, I went to church at Igesia Fe, and after church I took a taxi over to the home of las abuelitas (that is, Tita's mom and her sister). Finding a taxi was slightly tricky--the first few that I spoke with said that they couldn't get to Vallecito, where las abuelitas live. I don't quite understand WHY they couldn't get there, because I got there in a different taxi perfectly fine.
When I got there, they made a delicious lunch that we ate together. We took the afternoon easy. I took a nap and we watched some television, and in the evening we went to their cousin Ampucha's home for tea along with another dear friend of theirs. I had a great time listening to them and talking with them. They are lovely lovely people!! And we had a very elegant tea. I felt kind of like royalty.
I slept at the home of las abuelitas, and in the morning we had a wonderful breakfast. I spent some time doing some homework, we visited a bit with a friend of theirs, and then I went to lunch with them and their cousin. We went to a really good sea food place. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to spend some time with las abuelitas and to get to know them better. They are great!!
They dropped me off at Franco, a grocery store, where I met with Amy and Sydney to purchase some food for our adventure!! Yeah, we're leaving tomorrow for Nazca, and from there we're off to Paracas!!! Oh man!! So, I won't have any posts for the next few days. But I'll be sure to write all about our adventures when I get back!!!
I went to Bible study this afternoon, and from there I went to Capriccos. Capriccos is a cool place. I think I'll suggest that they open as store in Lansing, because I would like that quite a bit. They have some absolutely fantastic cakes!!! And ice cream!!! And sandwiches!!! And hot chocolately drinks!!! It's wonderful. Since this wee is midterm exams at San Pablo, lots of students are super busy and perhaps a bit stressed. When I'm stressed, I like to eat ice cream (some of you know this very well). So, I told my friends from San Pablo that I'd be at Capriccos for a bit tonight and that if they need or want a study break, I'll buy them cake or ice cream. I wasn't sure if anyone would show up or not because exams begin tomorrow, but in case someone wanted a break, I was there. Anthony came and we had this REALLY GOOD CHOCOLATE CAKE. (That's why Capriccos should open a store in Lansing.)
And now I'm getting ready for the presentation that I am going to give tomorrow at Colegio Claretiano. I'm pretty excited about this, actually. A bit nervous, of course, but I think it will be fun.
Father, I thank You so much for being with me here in Arequipa. Thank You for revealing Yourself to me through the people that I am meeting here every single day. Thank You for the opportunity to travel tomorrow and see more of what You have made. May You be glorfied, Jesus!!
