Today after my Didactica de las Matematicas class, I was planning on walking with Leyda and Dahil. However, they told me that they had to go to the library. I took that to mean that they were saying that I should go ahead on without them, so I told them I would see them tomorrow and headed off. Oh, but God had other plans. I didn't get very far before they called out and told me that they would be fast in the library and if I wanted to go with them, then we could walk together! So, of course, I did and we had a fun time talking and walking home from class.
It has been a bit difficult to get to know Peruvian students. Part of the difficulty is from my own apprehension and uncertainty. I just don't know HOW to go about getting to know people. I don't have the right words, and it's a bit frightening to take a plunge and risk using the wrong words. I really want to get to know people here... but it's hard. And it was so encouraging today to be able to have a fun conversation with Leyda and Dahil!
Here's some pictures. Um, no, I guess that should be "Here
are some pictures". My English grammer is rapidly declining. Look at these pictures:

| This is part of the view out the window at night. You can see the park and a bit of the city. I look out this window a lot. I like it. The mountains are there, too, but you can't see them when it's dark out. |

| Breakfast of champions!!! There's bread and yummy homemade jelly and butter and REALLY good fruit juice and some great cheese and pork paste!!! |
 |
| Ann and Lauren, this picture is mostly for you two. Now you can accurately visualise pork paste. |
Oh God, thank You for promising to always be with me and for always keeping Your promises! Thank You for bringing me here to Arequipa and thank You for mi familia and the people that I am meeting here. Lord, please guide me. Direct my path. I give You my time here and I pray that You would take it and use it however You want. Jesus, I trust You. Your ways are so much better than mine, and I surrender my plans and hopes and dreams and desires to You.
As much as I appreciate your efforts to help me accurately visualize pork paste... It was quite unnecessary. Excuse me while I go hurl... :P
ReplyDeleteKeep up the friendship-making and stop taking gross pictures... Before it's too late!!!!
Love you!
Hey I'm just trying to raise your cultural awareness. :-) And it wouldn't look so gross if you knew how yummy it is! Haha!
DeleteYou had mentioned earlier that pork paste tastes better than it sounds. It doesn't look better than it sounds. Therefore, I really hope it tastes better than it looks! Eww.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day, Hannah! Make friends :)
Maybe I'll bring some back for you and you can be the judge of that. :-) But I think it's good.
